Rare Birds in Orkney

These images are of birds which are rare or very scarce in Orkney. I try to keep this gallery updated regularly for obvious reasons.

Sometimes photos are used which are not up to the standard I would normally require, and are only included because it is possible to identify the species concerned. They are what would be referred to as 'record' shots by some bird photographers.
