MOSTLY ORKNEY BIRDS by Keith Hague

Great Blue Heron vs. Grey Heron

Photos on this gallery comprise a selection of images of both a vagrant Great Blue Heron (Ardea herodias) and Grey Herons (A. cinerea) taken in January/February 2012.
They are all of first-year birds, to allow the viewer to compare and contrast the two species.
I would welcome any comments, especially from viewers having experience of both species. The photos were taken in, or around, Kirkwall, Orkney.
I am indebted to Morris Rendall of Kirkwall for allowing me to feature some of his photos in this gallery.
