1st Sep.
Six Black-tailed Godwits were seen in Deerness.

2nd Sep.
Three juv. Ruffs (a male and two females) were found in Tankerness, along with a Greenshank.

3rd Sep.
Four Great Northern Divers (three adults/second-summers and a first-summer) were showing well together off the Holm shore.
Two Black-tailed Godwits were seen in Deerness.

4th Sep.
A juv. male Ruff was seen in Deerness.

5th Sep.
A female/imm. Common Scoter on a Holm loch was a new arrival.
Wader passage continues in small numbers with Ruff and Black-tailed Godwit (both juvs.) in Tankerness.

6th Sep.
Ruff and Black-tailed Godwit (both juvs.) were see in Deerness.

7th Sep.
A Curlew Sandpiper in Tankerness was my first juvenile of the autumn.

8th Sep.
Definitely a day for waders with four Black-tailed Godwits, a Green Sandpiper, a Greenshank and a juv. Curlew Sandpiper in Tankerness and finishing off the day with an elusive American Golden Plover in Deerness.


9th Sep.
No sign of the American Golden Plover in Deerness today (unless someone else has had more luck than me). The Golden Plovers were scattered all over the place, symptomatic of predator activity (human or avian).
A juv. Curlew Sandpiper and a juv. Ruff were however found nearby.

10th Sep.
The Curlew Sandpiper was still present in Deerness.

11th Sep.
The Curlew Sandpiper was still present.








12th Sep.
The Whooper Swan was seen again in Deerness.

13th Sep.
A Greenshank was seen in Tankerness.

14th Sep.
An ad. White Wagtail was found in Tankerness.

16th Sep.
A juv.Black-tailed Godwit was found in Toab. 86 Turnstones feeding in an inland field in Deerness was an unusual sight at this time of year.

18th Sep.
A Greenshank was seen in Tankerness.

19th Sep.
A juv. Lesser Yellowlegs was a nice find in Tankerness, and was seen along with a Greenshank and a Slavonian Grebe.










Nine Black-tailed Godwits and 76 Pink-footed Geese were seen nearby.

20th Sep.
A Ruff was found in Deerness. A Greenshank was seen in Deerness.

21st Sep.
A Carrion Crow was seen in Holm, and a Greenshank in Tankerness.

22nd Sep.
Single Greenshank and Black-tailed Godwit were seen in Tankerness.

23rd Sep.
85 Knots were seen in Deerness.

25th Sep.
A second moulting ad. American Golden Plover was found in Holm, not as advanced in moult as the Deerness bird.


26th Sep.
The American Golden Plover was still present.
14 Black-tailed Godwits and five Slavonian Grebes were seen in Tankerness.

27th Sep.
Passerine migrants were around in small numbers with Chaffinches, Robins, a Brambling and a Willow Warbler in the Tankerness/Toab area.

28th Sep.
The Lesser Yellowlegs put in a brief appearance in Tankerness after an apparent absence of eight days (assuming it is the same one!).








Two Goldcrests were seen in Deerness.

29th Sep.
A Lesser Whitethroat was seen in Tankerness, with a flock of 2130 Wigeon nearby.

30th Sep.
A juv. Curlew Sandpiper was seen in Deerness along with 13 Sanderlings and 85 Turnstones.
